Chivalry was a code of conduct knights had to live by. One aspect of chivalry was courtly love, which was a way aristocrats could express forbidden love for people they weren't married to, and inspire the object of their affection to achieve great feats in life, often in tribute to their secret love, knowing of a love that was out of their reach, yet still requited. Today, people refer to a decent moral compass and polite behavior as "chivalry". As our society evolves and women are increasingly treated as human beings with power and stature equal to men, our idea of polite behavior must adapt to accept that opening the door for a woman, as a manly gesture to help a frail woman, can be insulting to some people.

nonsense dummies. Women love to be taken care of. And lots of men love to do the taking care of. Equality means equal pay for equal work, equal respect from law enforcement, and the fight against victimization ingrained in the culture. It has nothing to do with "not needing a man". Have you talked to a woman in the last 5 yrs? They all want a man to take care of them. It's not an economic thing, but rather an emotional thing. Nothing about the fundamental female nature has changed.
