He wanted to see me after being a real jerk and I decided against it. Why would you book tickets to go see someone who broke your heart? What is he offering to you now that he couldn't before and how has the conversation changed? Clearly, he still holds the cards because you are not standing by your own edict of not going to him by hopping on a plane. If you don't respect yourself, what makes you think he respects you? I would switch that ticket to go somewhere I've always wanted to go. Good luck.

Go explore a new and exciting place can help you take your mind off your ex and remind you why you don't need the MF in the first place. Be strong OP--going to go see him is simply signing yourself up for more pain.
