January 22, 4:28PM His father is always trashing his self esteem, so he chases after pretty, flashy, popular women who look that way because they are incurable narcissists. He has no attraction to "real" women because his primary need is to constantly repair his damaged ego. Thus he believes that ALL women are narcissists, and he has never been able to enjoy true intimacy with a real woman, and until he stands up to his father and tells him to back the fuck off, he never will. Confidence is attractive. A bit extreme diagnosing beauty and popularity as narcissism. And a little narcissism is natural and healthy. No one who lacks self esteem and wears homeliness like a cross is worth pursuing.

I'm not talking about a little narcissism. I'm talking about preoccupation with physical appearance and a complete lack of empathy. And not everyone who is not preoccupied with physical appearance is lacking in self-confidence. In fact, true self-confidence comes from self-knowledge and self-acceptance, and people who feel truly confident in themselves don't need to put on a show for others.
