Every day... but I began to assume that you had stopped thinking about me, and I entrenched that belief so deeply, with each passing day you never called or wrote, that in the end I've come to depend on that belief, and I would fight to defend it. Even if you told me you had spent all of our time apart thinking about me, I wouldn't believe you, because believing that amidst all this silence is just too tragic.

Wow, that was the saddest thing I've read in a while. Well said. Unfortunately, that will likely be my reality in a year or so, if I'm over it at all by then.
