I would be okay dating a woman who lived with her parents if I thought I had a shot at her Mom. Or her Dad. Or both at once. A brother, a sister, whatever.

Depending on their age, I'd say it could be a warning flag. But it also depends on how long they've been doing it, and future plans. Young + plans to move = ok Young + no plans = eh!!?? Older + just divorced + def plans to move = ok Older + just divorced + no plans = eh!!??

Run away. Fast. Don't look back. Even if there was no other option, she is fucked up and so are you if you try to stick it out.

I am 33, so it would definitely be a warning flag. So for me, if they are relatively recently divorced or just came off of being unemployed and appear to have some direction to get it turned around okay. But if they are working a job and not a career, and have no ambition to improve that, that not okay.

ONLY in north america is this a thing. Everywhere else, it is common to live with your parents until marriage because it is tradition and people lack disposable income!!!! Some places would view willingly separating from your extended family as insanity. Me, I live with my parents because i don't have friends with a spare room and don't want to live with strangers. Or maybe im just lazy. Yes I can now afford to move out, and it cramps my style in the sex department, but there are lots of benefits to being at home aka use of a car.

I am 26, single & still live at home with my parents. I am the only child and I decided to not move out on my own, so I can be with & take care of them. I am not against moving out if I had someone special in my life, but being single, I choose to be closer to my parents. I just never know how much longer I will have with them.

I am 54 and planning to move in with my mother due to her dementia,, does this count?

Both my boyfriend and I live with our parents. He moved back home not ago in part due to downtime between jobs and then wanting to go back to school - then he stayed due to some family health issues and has been a huge help to his family. I'm home because I'm trying to save some money for moving and am not confident I'm staying with my current job - the next step may be relocating so I'll wait until I'm sure of that. I also don't think my recently divorced mother is ready to live alone - maybe I shouldn't care, but sometimes it holds me back. I definitely feel both our reasons are valid. He more so than I, I suppose I could leave and live dirt broke but it wouldn't help me pay down my loans and I'd really like to get rid of them. He still wants out desperately but I do think our relationship has held him back a bit, I've honestly been scared to bring it up because I'm scared of the answer. He's in his thirties, me my 20s.

I'm in my late 20's and I live with my Mom. I take care of my mother and support her with almost all her bills, groceries, general stuff. I can't afford supporting 2 separate places, wasting money on a rent. I work and study and my salary isn't too big.

Here's an idea to all folks who live with thier parents: don't waste time with people who judge and compare.

I am 25 female & live at home. I am in graduate school (four more semesters) so I live there to save $ but I am out as soon as I graduate.

after breaking up with the long term girlfriend I got majorly depressed. After abandoning the idea of ever again dating I decided that I was better off staying with my dad, since he's pretty laid back, and if I have enough money to own a place where I could live - I'd rather rent it to make a bit of money on the side, rather than exhaust myself running around paying off a mortgage and trying to finance someone else's entertainment at the same time off one job and no secondary income.

@op commented on Jan 14 13 at 12:25 pm FLAG FOR ABUSE

I'm 25 and live in NYC with my parents to save money for graduate school. I've dated men who mind and men who don't (from 24 to 41). The men who don't mind have shown to be open-minded and interested in me as a person... as well as interested in people and their experiences in general.

Um... my parents live with me.

@bah, You can afford to move out but you don't have a car? Looooooooooser. Even if you live in a city where public transportation ismthe best option, living at home so that you can use mom and dad's car is pathetic.

tru commented on Jan 14 13 at 1:31 pm FLAG FOR ABUSE

@tru sounds middle aged and criticizing kids? Looooooooooooooooooser.
