Hardly. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. And you have to be pretty extroverted and (interesting) to seek out experiences like that. So i think you are incorrect. But it is true that people like that have trouble staying in one place and settling down.
jj commented on Jan 12 13 at 2:31 am FLAG FOR ABUSE@as - I've seen numbers of people with rich inner lives even when they haven't moved or traveled from places they were born in, and since when did extroversion equate to "interesting"? Yes, travel can enrich our lives, but not when people do it merely for the sake of doing it and use the experience only as means to boast without really having done much than touring around.
LK commented on Jan 12 13 at 5:03 am FLAG FOR ABUSEI don't know of any interesting traveller who only toured around. The interesting parts of someone's travels is the spontaneity and the adventures made from who they are. Sure, people can be interesting without travelling and can achieve much as well, but as so many people want to travel but never make the time for it, it sort of shows as an achievement. I spend my money on experiences rather than material objects when I can. It's not necessarily an achievement but as said earlier, its the only thing you can spend money on to make you richer. I've found travelling alone far more useful than college.
ww commented on Jan 12 13 at 9:36 am FLAG FOR ABUSEIt's just interesting, like when my friend buys cigs for 12 bucks I remember seeing cigs for 50 cents and want to mention it. there are definietly those who think they are the shit b/c they travelled in really rough places for a long time like a local, those are annoying even if they didnt travel though. If you have the time and money to travel but don't, or only go to resorts, well then you are missing out
nmn commented on Jan 12 13 at 1:12 pm FLAG FOR ABUSEJust what the world needs more boring stories of "well, when I was in Singapore." STFU and do something productive, like get a degree (or another).
nt commented on Jan 12 13 at 4:30 pm FLAG FOR ABUSEi travel all the time, but i dont brag about it. i do it for myself to find myself in a new place and gain perspective and learn new things, meet new people.. its really great. you should try it sometime. .. and also going to exciting and sometimes dangerous places really makes you feel alive!. im hittin up india when i finish next semester. my forever traveling uncle says they've got the best beaches in the world.. and the food. mmmmmm and you can get a gold tooth for 10 bucks. . well anyway its fun to explore, and live a little.. if all you know is the north american standard of life then you are indeed missing out.
/// commented on Jan 12 13 at 7:48 pm FLAG FOR ABUSEEnjoying the privilege of being able to travel is the same as having the privilege of a good education: if you brag about it, or see it as permission to act superior to others, you've essentially missed the whole point.
