We broke up because he was finalizing his divorce (after being separated for a year and a half) and going through a custody battle for his daughter. He was obviously stressed and said he needed time. We remained friends on and off but then I found out he was dating someone else.. Now he's back...

As most have said, the ex is an ex for a reason. It's been said that "sometimes giving someone a 2nd chance is like giving them a 2nd bullet when they missed you with the first one".

OP, ask yourself this. When you are are both 95 and need help chewing your food, is he the guy you want to wipe the drool off your face and are you willing to wipe the drool off his face? If the answer is no, thank him for his offer and decline.
