Yes as a child I dreamt of spending 12 hours of my day working / commuting and sleeping and waking alone with no partner, no sex and no intimacy to look forward to. As well it's been my goal to be so starved for physical affection that brushing by strangers is almost pleasurable. I've seen the world and there is nothing in it that compares to his beauty. As @YNA writes this is a really sad ticket. The alternative is not between being a loner and a servant.
